Philosophers claim that there is a certain air which is much more subtle
than ours above the clouds and that, unlike ours, it is not composed
of terrestrial vapours but is a distinct element in its own right. They
say that, above the air, there is yet another body which is much more
subtle still, which they call the element of fire.
