The Turquoise Bird
In fairy tales death
always invites the blossoming of a flower or bird
the creation of a beautiful creature
who stays in the same place forever
and is disconcerting to the world
because it stays and does nothing but be what it is
and stare down surrounded by light
upon the darkness of what it used to be.
The turquoise bird stares into the grave.
